A few weekends ago, we spent a fun couple of days in Island Park, catching up with old friends, eating way too much food, amidst some fishing on the world renowned Henrys Lake. The weather in IP is nothing short of cantankerous and it did not disappoint this weekend either. The parking lot at the state park was nearly full when we arrived, leaving us wondering how this would go. While the morning started out sunny, the squalls soon chased most out of the water but we hung in there. A fishing friend, who also happened to be out on the lake, shared some great tips with us but what seemed to work the best was stopping for lunch and leaving our poles in the water while we ignored them. Maybe I should try that more often.
Of course, I couldn’t NOT go out on the water without my camera…. especially as I knew I would probably have time in between bites to capture whatever may fly my way.
Or not…..
As we left to head home, my husband took a turn to drive the backroads. I didn’t immediately grab my camera because I hadn’t asked to go this route so I just wasn’t sure what he was up to. A few miles down the road he told me to get my camera out. That he’d picked this route for me. Awww. I sure do love him.
When he wants my attention, he calls me by my middle name. On many occasions I return the favor. No, Corinna isn’t his middle name, but good guess.
It took two extra hours to get home that day. Or rather…. it took 2 hours to cover the first 40 miles because someone (ahem) kept asking the driver to pull over when she saw something she liked.
Annnnnd….. one more….
I’m never one to pass up some beautiful lupines. Even if the storm had decided to let the water out to run down the back of my neck while I hunkered down to get a good view…..
And old barns….
Rather than follow the yellow dotted line all the way to I-15, we detoured along Fort Henrys Historic Byway and came in the to the backside of Rexburg. Along the way we passed the St. Anthony sand dunes, lots and lots of flowers…
And sheep….
By this point it was point and shoot as the driver’s leg was tired from all the stopping and starting. I’m sure that’s what it was…. {wink}!
But he surely knew that when he made that right turn, it was going to be a humdinger of a ride home. Thanks my love, Henry.
